I feel too young to belong to the AARP. It's a good thing because we will have at least one kid in college till 2014.

Since graduation, I earned three degrees, a bachelor, master, and md. Between degrees, I worked in Dumas in the natural gas transmission business and in San Francisco for a hospital laboratory equipment manufacturer. I completed an internal medicine residency training program at UT Houston in 1986. I married Karis Mical Fagan in 1985, and we have lived in San Antonio since 1987. Karis, a dermatologist, and I both have practices in San Antonio in the medical center area, but at different locations. Our kids, born in 1989 and 1992, are maturing into wonderful young adults. |

Favorite "Growing Up Pampa" Memories: |

When I was a junior, I carried the title of "ranch foreman" at the Gething Ranch. That was a pretty prestigious title for a 15 year old kid, even though the only other "employees" at the ranch were the younger Mark and Grant Gething. |

| What do you like to do in your spare time? |
|
Since 1993, I have been running with the same running group at 5:00 am three days a week. Peer pressure is a great motivator. Otherwise, I would sleep in everytime.

What did you want to do or think you were going to do when you finished high school?

I was a bit of a nerd. Probably something technical.

|
Helen McDaniel, Wanetta Hill, Karis, and I had an annual dinner date in San Antonio for a number of years during the Texas Music Educators convention that Wanetta attended. Now that Helen is moving to Japan and Wanetta has become a neighbor, that tradition may change. We enjoy seeing Jay and Linda Johnson at the annual spring dental meeting that Jay attends. Donald Barnhill and Scotty King also live close to us.

Brothers George David and John (Jeeper) are both very successful equine veterinarians. Karis sometimes tells me that I not only picked the wrong specialty, I picked the wrong species. Brother James Dennis is a computer specialist for NASA in Houston.

| What did you always want to do that you haven’t done yet? |
|
I haven't run the Boston Marathon. However, there is still hope. After 60, the qualifying time increases to 4 hours.

|
I am a pretty good ping pong player.
